I. Basics
All contents and comments to other discussions have to be provided in English only to ensure an efficient communication between all Participants participating in the Carbon Footprint Challenge 2019 (hereinafter referred to as “Challenge”) on carbonfootprintchallenge.org (hereinafter referred to as “platform” or “Platform”).
All the Challenge Platform content is of non-confidential nature and open to all points of view on intended business-related topics. However, UNITECH International (UNITECH International Society c/o Bereich Rektorin ETH Zürich, SOX B12 Sonneggstrasse 74, CH-8092 Zürich, Switzerland, hereinafter referred to as “Unitech”) reserves the right to remove any post or reply that includes derogatory, abusive, offensive, obscene, violent, inappropriate or inaccurate content of any kind. Participants shall interact with other Participants respectfully, as the Participants would do in any professional setting. Hate speech, discriminatory remarks, intimidating behavior or posts, or any abuse of the platform may also constitute grounds for participant’s immediate removal from the challenge. All decisions pertaining to participants, teams, and / or ideas admitted or selected for any stage of the Challenge including the selection of winners are final.
While all efforts are undertaken to prevent this, Unitech cannot fully rule out unplanned downtime of any online of offline service for or connected to the Carbon Footprint Challenge.
Acceptance of these terms & conditions are prerequisite for participating in the Carbon Footprint Challenge 2019.
II. Data Privacy
When participating in the Challenge, the Participant has to provide Unitech with certain personal data with confidentiality. The personal information will be used only for the purpose of conducting the Challenge as described in these terms and possible invitations to recruiting events by Unitech and / or its corporate partners unless otherwise clearly stated and accepted by you.
The personal information Unitech may be collecting when using the Platform includes Participant’s full legal name, postal address, telephone, university, field of study, how participant learned of the Challenge, IP address, and email address.
By using the Platform, the Participant gives his/her consent to Unitech and its service provider for the hosting of the platform to held and use his/her personal data.
The Participant also agrees by using the Platform that his/her contributions are made available to the public through the Platform with his/her name and/or username.
In case the Participant wants his/her personal data to be modified or deleted or wants to obtain an information about the type of his/her personal data stored at Unitech please contact the contact person who is indicated: Samantha O’Connor Balsillie (Samantha.oconnor_balsillie@buhlergroup.com) or Tove Jensen (tove.jensen@covestro.com).
Unitech does not guarantee that the Participant`s submitted data are secure on the Internet. Unitech cannot exclude that the Participant`s personal data are spied out or damaged by unauthorized third party.
III. Use of cookies
This platform uses cookies. In order to participate in the Challenge, please read and acknowledge the following information.
What Are Cookies?
As it is common practice among most of professional websites this platform uses cookies, which are small text files downloaded to the user`s computer to improve user experience and enable the site to work as intended. This section describes what information is gathered, how is used and why there is need for data storage.

How We Use Cookies

The Cookies We Set
If you create an account with us, cookies will be used for the management of the signup process and general administration.
These cookies will usually be deleted upon logout. However, in some cases, cookies may remain afterwards with some of your site preferences.
Cookies prevents users from logging in when visiting a new page. These cookies are typically removed or cleared when you log out to ensure that only registered users can access restricted features and areas when logged in. When a Participant submits data to through a form such as those found on contact pages or comment forms cookies may be set to remember for future correspondence.
Third Party Cookies
A participant may create an account on the platform through his / her Facebook account credentials by using social media buttons and/or plugins (“Logging in with Facebook”) connecting your account to Facebook social network. Facebook sets cookies through our website to enhance your profile in respect of its privacy policy.
III. Intellectual Property Rights
The Participant ensures to the best of his/her knowledge that the submitted business ideas, materials and information are neither of confidential nature nor unlawfully obtained by the participant.
In exchange for use of the Platform, and to the extent that participants contributions through use of the Platform give rise to any intellectual property right interest, hereunder copyright, patent rights, design rights etc., the Participant hereby grants Unitech a non-exclusive, cost-free, world-wide right to the content generated by the Participant for the duration of the challenge (May 2nd 2019, to 7th September 2019).
Unitech can use Participant`s contributions in any way and for any purpose including to reproduce, modify, copy, adapt, perform, display, publish, broadcast, transmit, or communicate to the public by any means whether now known or unknown and distribute Participant`s contributions for the whole duration of protection granted to intellectual property rights by applicable laws and international conventions. Furthermore, Unitech shall not be obliged to destroy or return the information provided by Participant on the Platform after completion of the Challenge.
Participant may continue to share and promote Participant’s work on Participant’s own website, online profiles, and event displays during and after the challenge. Participant may not sell any items, physical or digital, directed to the ideas submitted to the Platform during the Challenge.
Should Unitech choose to no longer consider Participant`s idea(s) for the Challenge, by way of refusing the submissions to the site, deleting or archiving submitted ideas, or denying Participant`s idea(s), Unitech will retain the non-exclusive right to display Participant’s idea(s) on the Platform and in promotional materials related to the Platform worldwide, and release back to the Participant any remaining rights that Participant assigned at the time of submitting the idea(s).
If Participant chooses to delete or remove his/her idea(s) from the Platform prior to approval from Unitech, all rights assigned to Unitech will remain assigned to Unitech.
The Participant bears its own expenses resulting from his/her participation in the Challenge. Unitech shall not be obliged to pay any compensation (of whatever nature) to the Participant in connection with the participation in the Carbon Footprint Challenge.
IV. Disclaimer
Unitech declines all liability whatsoever for loss or damage of any kind that you or any third parties may incur in connection with access to or use of the platform or parts thereof, or from links to third parties' websites. Anyone visiting the platform, using the information contained therein or availing themselves of the offers featured therein does so at their own risk and responsibility.
Unitech also declines all liability for lost earnings, for Internet-related malfunctions of all kinds (e.g. suspension of operations, disruption of functions, viruses, pernicious components, terrorist acts, etc.), for misuse by third parties (hacking into data, copying, etc.) and for loss of programs or other data in your information systems. This applies even the platform might indicate the possibility of such damage.
V. Linked websites
Links on the platform may lead to third parties' websites which are outside the control of Unitech. Unitech cannot accept responsibility for the correctness, completeness or lawfulness of the content of these websites or of any links to further websites, nor for any offers, products or services contained therein. Users access the linked websites at their own risk.
By ticking the box labelled "I have read and understood the Legal Disclaimer and hereby fully agree to it", the Participant agrees to the present Legal Disclaimer.
